My name is Crystal Turner. I was born and raised in Jacksonville North Carolina. A southern girl with bare feet, sweet tea, and a Yes Ma'am. I married a local man 18 years ago. We have two spirited teenagers, Brandon and Jenna. They fill our life with a lot of laughter and learning. My fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Renchen inspired me to teach. Her passion for teaching and her desire for student success had a huge impact on me. A dream came true when I was hired as a Kindergarten teacher. Those sweethearts have a joy for learning like no other. I continued teaching 5 year olds for 7 years. Then it happened... I was bit by the looping bug. I had the perfect class with perfect parents and volunteers, so to first grade I went and remained the following year. My personal children began middle school and high school, which required a different work schedule, so I taught 3 years at Blue Creek Elementary. I am now back home at Meadow View back in K. . I believe that instilling a love for literacy in the early grades is vital for a child's education. Therefore a Masters in Reading at ECU seemed fit. Through furthering my education, I have learned new skills and techniques to help strengthen struggling readers, as well as challenge the higher achievers.
